Are you a foreign national, outside the European Union, established in Wallonia? Are you interested in acquiring Belgian nationality or have you recently arrived in Belgium? You will be required to fulfill the Walloon region civic integration path which is organized by the Regional Integration Center (CRI) of your region 1.

"The aim of the civic integration path is to welcome and to guide new foreign residents of Wallonia, to help them acquire basic knowledge about the functioning of society and social relations in Belgium and to make easier their integration into the country. (...) Since Wallonia's desire is to enable everyone to benefit from support and adequate assistance in order to facilitate their integration into their new living environment, the Walloon integration path remains accessible to any foreigner or person of foreign origin, whether new arrivals or not. (…)" 2

One of the step of this integration path is to follow a 60-hour civic integration program called "Civic Integration Program (Formation d’Intégration Citoyenne)" and "Civic Orientation Workshops (Atelier d’Orientation Citoyenne)". The CPCP, one of the official partners of the CRIs, organizes them in the cities of Charleroi, Hannut, Huy, Liège and Namur.

The FICs are intended for people with a good level of French (A2 or +).

The AOCs are intended for beginners in French, but are also accessible to people with a higher level of French.

These programs are totally free of charge.

Groups are composed of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 15 participants.

Civic integration program contents

  • These programs take place in 20 sessions of 3 hours each, spread over a period of 2 to 3 months.

  • Several sessions are dedicated to field visits, which will allow you to better understand the reality and functioning of Belgian and Walloon society: visit of the Parliament of Wallonia, visit of a municipal house, visit of a social housing facility, visit of a waste sorting center, meeting with an association or a civic initiative likely to facilitate your integration.
